First post in 2012! Hope you had a great start of the year!

Is it time to think about what to make this Spring yet?
I always start with looking at what the best designers are showing on their runways. And the natural designer to start with for me is Isabel Marant, who always does great and creative knitwear.

Although the multicolored sweaters are for sure going to be seen on fashionistas this Spring, I´m not sure where I stand with this collection. But I can definitely find inspiration in the details here, that long white cardigan with different colored fringed, great idea!

My latest work: Striped with a twist

It´s actually been finished for a while, and I´ve already worn it alot. I wanted to make a classic piece with a twist, and I was inspired by this COS sweater I saw on the blog Columbine Smille. In stead of orange, I went for a raspberry color, which I think contrasts the black and white nicely.

I threw on some gold buttons too.

A Raglan sleeve gives that nice straight cut on the shoulders.

The Trend Knit for Fall 2011

Keeping an eye open for the upcoming fall-season, I'd thought I could present some ideas for what to knit. Us knitters have to start early to have it finshed at the right time, as you probably know. :)

Indian Fall

Apart from loving those fringe boots more than life itself, I think that Isabel Marant had some great knitted pieces in her fall collection. This Indian Fringe dress/necklace is so cool. White is a hot color for Fall too, and really any sweater can be sproused up with some fringes.

Shag-attack

A lot of designers had shaggy/wooly elements in their collection. Here from Mulberry, knit yourself a comfortable jacket or vest for those chilly autumn days.

The new Poncho

The Poncho is back. But remember to update it with a cooler style, like with this squared shape from Isabel Marant. You wouldn't be completely off with a Itkat/Aztec pattern either.

There you go, I hope I have provided some inspiration for your next projects.

DIY: Pink Pom Pom Necklace

This must be the chic'est and easiest DIY project I have seen this year, get your yarns out! :) Braid the necklace, make pom poms and discs out of yarn and cardboard. Easy! :) Maybe some shimmering metallic yarn would make for the coolest result.

So, Stylebubble has pointed me in the direction of designer Magdalena Velevska. This piece from her latest collection stood out to me. That torn effect is so great, and I've decided to become an expert at this. :) Just dropping the mask isn't that difficult, everyone does that at times :) But making it in to a pattern that makes sense is a bit more challenging.

There is certainly something different about Missoni's Fall 2011 collection. The colors are not what you would expect for fall, and the brand seem to be going in a more edgy direction, inspired by the palettes and styling of the 90s. Though I'm not that into the pastels, I really like this line for the creative braid use and the chunky lace-knitting. Totally copyable. ♥

Like these models I love the 70s style. And I love Sonia Rykiel. Therefore, I love this collection. Lots of knitted pieces of course. She never disappoints.

Finding inspiration

First of all, I want to thank all of my followers - Old and new. I really thought that when I stopped blogged for months, my blog would fade into nothingness. Well, it didn't and I've now found new inspiration to continue blogging about my love of fashion, and even more: my love of creating

I hope that with reading and following my posts, I can inform and inspire people enough to make their on and unique fashion. Even though we should look to the real designers for ideas, there is no reason why we can't create and design our own pieces and looks. I think that that's where style really comes from.

The general topic of TDK will be the same as before, my designs, but also my finds and views revolving the world of fashion. And how this is not contrary to the crafts of knitting and crochet.

I've definitively been busy these past months, and have plenty of designs to show you soon.

Strangely, I've always thought Iceberg was a Nordic brand. Like Icelandic. :) Haha, turns out Iceberg is an Italian Fashion House founded in 1962. Shame on me for not having it on my radar until now.

I really liked their Fall Winter 2010-11 campaign.

And here are some knitted highlights from Iceberg's most recent show.

Again, the mixed colored yarns, ribbed knitting and monochromatic schemes that are so hot now. Black, grey and a type of burgundy that really takes me back to the 90s. Ah, good times. :)

Short(s) Winter

So, as I've blogged about before, the knitted items in shops and on runways are a bit different this season. For once we are not just seeing the usual sweaters and scarves. We're talking pants, shorts, turbans and capes! Exciting times, if you are a knitter with a closet full of cardigans, like me. :)

Ariel Scallop Bag

I chose to call this last piece I've made the Ariel Scallop Bag. Naturally the shells and scallop shape of it played a part in that. :) And also The Little Mermaid was a favorite as a child..

I crocheted the round scallop shaped bag first, and then the round lapel which I stitched to the bag. I then added fringe threads all around the lapel very closely.

I braided 2 threads and sewed them to the lapel, and then attached the cowrie shells, crystals, beads, wood pieces and studs.

The shoulder strap has shells attached to them and is also scalloped, not straight.

I even managed to put in a lining AND a zipper. So it is more than pretty, it's practical too! :)

I really think it came out very well, and it has already become a staple in my summer wardrobe.

It will certainly be coming with me to Sharm El Sheik in a few weeks!

The Shearling Effect

I guess you would have had to lived in a hole for the past 2 months to not have heard the ravings about Burberry Prorsums Shearling Aviator Jackets. And yes, they are to die for.

As both knitter and fashionaddict I see it as my responsibility to find out how I can translate this trend to the needle.

My next stop was of course garnstudio.com, where I found the yarn Drops Puddel, which is very Shearling-like. So I like. Looks like my next project is in the bag. :)

I just bought this comfy cape/cardigan/poncho at a online store for a bargain! Love bargains! :)

Don't underestimate the great impact a navajo/ikat inspired item can have on your autumn wardrobe..

I'm ready for cool weather, amazing new clothes and warm cappuchinos at a cozy café.

And I NEED to go back to New York soon! Best city ever.

Presenting one of those "it's sunday, the yarn shop is closed and I have a lot of leftovers lying around"-projects. :) Vibrant colors and graphic navajo patterns inspired me to make this across body bag. Laid-back and sorta festival-ish, I think.

The hardware I took from an old cheap H&M bag. Always save the buckles, handles or similar before throwing away your out-of-style bags and belts, they can become useful! :)

I've recently become a patron of Studded Hearts, great fashion blog. And there I found this picture out of Vogue Nippon September 2010. The spread is in camel and beige colors, which is this seasons new black. Too bad it's not really my color. ;(

But what I really like about this outfit is, of course, the knitted pants! Hello! :) I know it's kinda crazy, and you don't want to make pants in itchy wool, but maybe cashmere? I say yes please.

My current project is a grey knee length sweater dress, in ribbed knitting. And let me tell you, this is going to take a w-h-i-l-e. Oh well.
